It is certainly a paradise of India, and you shouldn’t miss visiting it….

A .T.W. Sunderbans-II

As I have told u earlier, Sunderbans was declared a protected area as far back as 1878.In 1977 it was made a wild life sanctuary mainly because it is the home of the Royal Bengal Tiger, the national animal of India. In 1864, it was converted into a national park. Around that time , the tiger population stood at 265.Some of the other animals which reside in the Sundarbans are the wild boar and spotted deer; among birds, the open bill stork. The aquatic mammals include the finless purpose and the hump backed dolphin…. A .T.W. Sunderbans-I

I would like to begin the series, with the last addition into the list of places that I have visited. It is Sunderbans in the Eastern India. To be honest i did not really like the initial impression that it made on me , but later i realised that well , this is some place to be....Many may wonder how a forest has come to be declared a heritage site ,But the Sunderbans in West Bengalis no ordinary forest .Spread over some 10,000 sqkm ofland , and water it is the third largest forest in the world, it is also the largest delta at the mouth of the three rivers namely Ganga ,Brahmaputhra and Meghna. The whole of sunderbans consist of intricate water network, connected to each other. The area is dotted by 54 tiny islands which are a habitat of a wide variety of fauna. Certainly a treat to all our eyes…..
